The Junior Accountant will support the Accounting Team by maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, assisting with month-end activities, tax-filling and ad-hoc reporting ensuring compliance with accounting principles and the company policies. This role works closely with Finance, Operations and Sales and will assist with key business initiatives and operational priorities. The position reports to Accounting Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post journal entries, ad hoc financial analysis, business case support, and other reporting models as required
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, financial reports and account analyses
- Maintain accurate financial records and support documentation
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation
- Respond to internal and external inquiries related to accounting matters
- Coordinates activities related to custom’s and logistics paperwork, customer orders ensuring excellent client service
- Assists with data analytics utilizing various tools to analyze trends, identify risks/opportunities, and support operational improvements
- Process and reconcile freight, shipping, customs, and warehouse-related invoices.
- Contributes to finance process improvements, reporting enhancements, and analytical process
- Ensures compliance with financial processes, follows Canadian GAAP/IFRS and other regulatory requirements
- Assist maintain records related to inventory movements, freight charges, and vendor contracts
- Produce accurate financial analysis, reporting, and variance explanations and other key data to support with informed decision
Required Qualifications
o Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without restrictions
o Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, statistics, or a related field training required
o 2-5 years related experience
o Expertise working with financial and ERP systems such as NetSuite (Oracle), Microsoft Office Products (e.g. Excel, Access), SQL, Power BI, Tableau will be considered a strong asset
o Solid understanding and knowledge of full cycle accounting processes, inventory accounting principles and cost allocations
o Working experience within a manufacturing environment or grocery industry is not a must but will be considered an asset
o Knowledge of freight, transportation, and supply chain processes – nice to have skillset
o Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
