Before you start

Use the exact area and season, not a general “waterfront fishing allowed” rule. The current date, October 14, is at the end of the town’s evening window. The general October 15-May 15 window begins the following day, but specific prohibited areas remain excluded throughout.

The town identifies creek access separately from harbour piers. Sixteen Mile Creek access must be at least 50 metres upstream of the last upstream dock and cannot be from a bridge or roadway. Bronte Creek access is listed north of Rebecca Street Bridge, including Petro Canada Park and other creek access points.

Rules and exceptions

  • The evening allowance is limited to designated parts of Bronte’s east pier and Oakville’s east and west piers between 9 p.m. and midnight. Use the town’s designated-area maps.
  • No fishing at Bronte Beach, Coronation Park Beach or South Shell Park.
  • The town also excludes Bronte Creek south of Rebecca Street Bridge, Busby, Hillmer, Edgemere, Erchless Estates, Riverview, Tannery and Dingle sites, and all stormwater ponds.
  • Piers are otherwise restricted except Bronte west pier and the designated evening zones.
  • This page concerns local access only. It does not grant an Ontario fishing licence or establish fish-species seasons or catch limits. Use current provincial fishing rules for those separate requirements.
  • Harbour services, launch arrangements and boater charges are separate from angling access; the office provides the current fee schedule.
