Before you start

A leash-free area is a specific fenced part of a park. The rest of the park is not automatically off leash. Use the seven addresses below to choose a site, then follow the posted enclosure entrance rules.

The town says dog walking groups fund these areas. Shared use means keeping control of each dog and removing its waste. Being inside a leash-free area does not remove the owner’s responsibility for the dog.

Rules and exceptions

  • Dogs must be leashed outside the designated area and wear an up-to-date town licence tag.
  • Keep dogs away from playground sand, tennis courts, splash pads, flower gardens, cemeteries, sports fields and garden plots.
  • The page reports a seasonal March 20-to-July 31 dog closure on part of Sedgewick Forest trail for coyote denning. That period has passed as of this October 14 check; it is not a current year-round closure.
